The new Genesis G90 has been photographed completely undisguised during a photoshoot in Europe.
These photos of the sedanâs front and rear were originally posted on Korean website BobaeDream, and show a Korean market version â" to be known as the Genesis EQ900 â" waiting around for its publicity photos to be taken.
Despite their low resolution, these photos show us all the key details of the carâs exterior styling. At the front, the G90 will feature a front end thatâs closely modelled on the Hyundai Genesis that was launched locally earlier this year, with a tall familial six-point grille flanked by swept back headlights.
Around the sides and tail, though, the G90 is a lot more formal than the smaller and more dynamic Hyundai Genesis.
The sides themselves seem to be more upright, although they are enlivened by a thick-cut character line. The carâs large rear doors point to a passenger-centric focus.
At the rear, the G90/EQ900 shows a clear lineage to the Hyundai Equus that itâs set to replace.
Earlier this month, Hyundai confirmed that it would split off the luxury Genesis marque from Hyundai mothership.
It appears that unlike other luxury offshoots, such as Lexus, Acura and Infiniti, Genesis will be marketed as a brand-within-a-brand, with dedicated retail space within select Hyundai dealerships.
Above: Australiaâs Hyundai Genesis, which will soon be known as the Genesis G80.
Hyundai says that it plans to release five new Genesis models by the end of the decade, including two sedans, two SUVs, and a coupe. Some of these seem likely to end up down under, but the G90 is unlikely to make the journey for now.
According to Bill Thomas, Hyundai Australiaâs communications chief, the G90 âhasnât been ruled outâ for Australia, but its appearance down under would be âvery unlikelyâ due to the âsignificant investment required to engineer for right-hand driveâ.
