Hyundai has wasted no time in expanding its newly created luxury division, releasing sketches of the all-new Genesis G90 flagship today ahead of its launch in South Korea in December.
The new limousine â" to be dubbed G90 globally and EQ900 in its domestic market â" will replace the ageing Equus sedan sold in select markets around the world.
The G90 will become the second model in the Genesis family, sitting above the BMW 5 Series-sized Hyundai Genesis sedan. Expect the latter to be rebranded G80 before too long as per the naming structure of the new Genesis range.
The Genesis G90 and Hyundai Genesis sedan (G80) will be joined by four more Genesis models by 2020, including a mid-sized sedan (G70), two SUVs and a sports coupe.
Hyundai says the Genesis G90 showcases the brandâs âathletic eleganceâ design language, interpreted by the newly created Prestige Design Division to bring âgraceful and profound elegance to the G90âs significant proportionsâ.
The front-end look is familiar from the current Genesis, with the divisionâs wing badge spread across the tip of the bonnet, above the carâs prominent hexagonal grille. The G90âs rear three-quarter is more reminiscent of the ultra-luxury Bentley Mulsanne and Mercedes-Benz S-Class limos thanks to its flowing lines and stately proportions.
Hyundai says the G90 will combine âhuman-centred technologyâ with âengaging driving dynamicsâ, and boast âworld-best safety features and technological innovations to set itself apart in the luxury classâ.
More details on the G90, including information about its underpinnings and powertrains, will be revealed in the coming weeks.
