DS 4S hatch revealed for China

DS, the new luxury marque formerly a part of the Citroen brand range, has revealed another new China-only model at this week’s Guangzhou motor show.

The new model is known as the 4S, making it a companion of sorts to the DS 4 currently offered in Australia â€" although it is understood that the new hatch rides on the Peugeot 308’s EMP2 platform, rather than the older PF2 architecture of the DS 4.

The 4S is set further apart from the 4 through its conventional hatch design, moving away from the high-riding and more curvaceous look worn by its stablemate.

PSA Peugeot Citroen’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine will be offered with the 4S, and although DS isn’t saying what outputs will be on offer, the same engine makes 96kW/230Nm in the local 308.

A larger 1.8-litre petrol engine will also be offered in two states of tune, delivering 100kW and 150kW respectively.

Built in China, The DS 4S goes on sale there early next year, but an Australian debut for this hatch is not expected to occur.
