2016 Ford Kuga gets standard rear camera; Trend, Titanium add Sync 2

The updated, 2016 Ford Kuga will arrive in Australian showrooms next month with a reverse-view camera standard across all variants and Sync 2 in mid- and high-grade models.

Previously only included in the flagship Kuga Titanium, a rear camera will be fitted to 2016 versions of the entry- and mid-level Ambiente and Trend variants.

Ford’s base Ambiente gains two 4.2-inch colour screens: one in the instrument cluster and one in the centre of the dashboard, replacing the outgoing car’s blue dot-matrix displays. The 2016 Ambiente also gains DAB+ digital radio.

The 2016 Kuga Trend and Titanium upgrade to the Sync 2 infotainment and connectivity system, which displays through an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen.

Incorporated in the Sync 2 suite is an enhanced voice control system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, two USB ports, and real-time traffic monitoring for the satellite navigation system (sat nav was previously only standard in the Titanium).

The panoramic sunroof standard in the Kuga Titanium can now also be opened using the key fob, allowing owners to cool the cabin on hot days before getting in. All 2016 Kuga variants also benefit from redesigned air vents.

Ford is yet to announce if the specification updates will have any affect on Kuga prices. The current range is priced from $27,490 plus on-road costs in front-drive Ambiente petrol manual form to $46,990 for the all-wheel-drive Titanium diesel auto.
