The pint-size Daihatsu Tempo concept made its debut the 2015 Tokyo motor show.
The Tempo isn’t the first concept car that can operate as a food truck â€" remember the Peugeot Foodtruck concept that debuted earlier this year at the Milan Design Fair? â€" but it’s probably the first that fits into the kei car category.
Daihatsu refers to the Tempo as a “new genre-space commercial vehicle†with a flexible flat floor space that’s built around a front-engine, front-wheel drive platform.
The concept features a large gull wing opening on the passenger’s side with built-in LED lighting. The car on show in Tokyo was equipped with a countertop, a glass display area underneath, and a digital sign board built into the car’s side. There’s also a full length panoramic glass roof, and apparently enough space in the rear for two people.
Measuring just 3395mm long, 1475mm wide, 1995mm tall, and riding on a 2455mm wheelbase, the Tempo should be well suited to tightly packed streets of Tokyo and other global metropolises.
The Tempo seats two up front, and is powered by a three-cylinder petrol engine.
