WRC Rally Australia 2015 Gallery : Up close and dusty

Last weekend’s 2015 Rally Australia event in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, was the 10th round of this year’s World Rally Championship (WRC) and it did not disappoint.

Volkswagen Motorsport continued its domination of the sport, with last year’s winner Sebastien Ogier again claiming top spot (with help from co-driver Julien Ingrassia) along with enough points to guarantee him his third consecutive WRC title with three rounds still to go. The win, plus second- and fourth-place finishes by Volkswagen teammates Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen, also helped Volkswagen secure its third consecutive WRC manufacturers’ title.

Northern Ireland’s Kris Meeke was the best non-Volkswagen Polo R WRC to make it onto the Rally Australia podium, with his Citroen DS3 WRC taking third spot outright for the three-day, 1023.70-kilometre event.

Hyundai Motorsport had a positive event rally, with the Kiwi combo of Hayden Paddon and co-driver John Kennard grabbing a team-best fifth place, ahead of Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo in seventh and eighth respectively.
