Tesla expands Supercharger network in Australia

The Tesla Supercharger network is growing in Australia, with the US electric car brand opening two new regional locations today.

The new Supercharger stations in Goulburn in southern NSW and just over the border in Wodonga, Victoria, will theoretically make it possible for owners to drive from Sydney to Melbourne in one stint.

The Supercharger fast-recharge points are free to use for all Tesla owners, and provide up to 270 kilometres of battery range in just 30 minutes.

A full “tank” fill takes about one hour, and in the Model S 85D should allow more than 500 kilometres of emissions-free motoring.

The Goulburn Supercharger is located at the Goulburn Visitors’ Information Centre on Sloan Street in the the nation’s first inland city.

The Goulburn Supercharger will have eight fast-charge bays, and all Model S buyers get free charging for life when they sign on the dotted line.

Wodonga in Victoria â€" sister city of Albury on the other side of the border â€" will see six Supercharger bays and will be located at the Wodonga City Library car park, close to the main street.

CarAdvice is on the road driving the new Supercharged Hume Freeway route between Sydney and Melbourne today to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremonies at both locations, and to see just how easy the electrified trip is. Stay tuned.
