The next-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon has been spied, both inside and out, by our photographers outside a Daimler facility in Germany.
This is our second look at the next E-Class‘ interior after spy photos at the end of last year showed parts of the car’s centre stack.
While that car featured a wood dash insert, this car features a more contemporary brushed metal piece. Above this, the instrument cluster and the car’s widescreen Comand infotainment screen are joined together visually by a piece of gloss black plastic.
Among the new technologies that will debut in the E-Class will be a remote parking function, which allows the driver to stand outside the car to direct and monitor the car’s manoeuvres into and out of parking spaces via a smartphone application.
The car is also likely to sport, at least in some variants, a 48V electrical system, as well as a plug-in hybrid drivetrain with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine at its core.
Expect high performance AMG models to use a version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that’s currently doing duty under the bonnets of the Mercedes-AMG GT and C63 models.
Even through the layers of camouflage we can see that new E-Class wagon will have styling that’s closely aligned with the designs sported by the C- and S-Class ranges.
We also have spy photos of the next-gen E-Class sedan.
