The Volkswagen Golf cabrio has been given a mild visual makeover and upgraded mechanicals, and will debut in the flesh at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
On the outside, Volkswagen says that the revised Golf cabrio is âeasy to identify by [its] considerably sportier front bumper, the striking side sills and sporty accents on the rear bumperâ.
Personalisation choices are boosted thanks six new colours being added to the palette. The updated car can also be specified with six new alloy wheel designs and a different soft-top colour.
On the inside, Volkswagen has spruced up the cabin with the companyâs latest steering wheel designs, as well as new trim pieces, and revised cloth and leather seats.
The companyâs latest Composition Colour and Composition Media infotainment systems are available on the updated cabrio range too.
While the cabriolet is based on the previous generation Mark VI Golf, the open-top car is now powered by the companyâs latest suite of engines, which are compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standard.
European buyers will be able choose from six different engines options: four petrol and two diesel. For spark ignition fans, thereâs a 77kW 1.2-litre turbo, a 92kW 1.4-litre turbo, a 110kW 1.4-litre turbo and a 162kW 2.0-litre turbo shared with the latest Golf GTI.
On the compression ignition side of the ledger, a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel is available in both 81kW and 110kW tunes.
In Australia, the current version of the Golf cabrio is available solely with the 1.4-litre Twincharger engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Featuring both a turbocharger and supercharger this engine develops 118kW of power and 240Nm of torque.
