Even in absence of official renderings and specifications, TVR claims that it already has buyers lined up for its entire 2017 production run.
In June, TVR announced that it will begin designing a new range of affordable performance coupes and convertibles in collaboration with Cosworth and Gordon Murray Design.
The company began taking deposits for its new car in July and, in the six weeks since deposits opened up at 5000 pounds ($10,900) a piece, the companyâs planned production run for 2017 is already spoken for.
This is despite the fact that the company has yet to reveal look of the vehicle, even in exaggerated teaser sketch format. Nor has TVR gone into any great details about the carâs specifications.

Les Edgar, TVRâs chairman, told Autocar that itâs âheart-warmingâ that âwe have taken deposits from customers who have not even yet seen official pictures of the carâ. He added that the company will release more details about the car soon and promises âthat the new car will exceed expectations in every wayâ.
At present we know that the new TVR sports car will be a two-seater vehicle powered by normally aspirated, dry-sump Cosworth V8 engine. The vehicle will also feature a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout with a standard manual transmission.
The new carâs platform will spawn âat leastâ four different models over the course of the next 10 years. TVR hasnât built a car since 2006, and was bought out by Edgar and his financial backers in 2013.
TVR says that it is aiming to make between 1000 and 1500 vehicles annually in the medium term, although 2017 production will be around âthe low hundredsâ.
