The BMW M5 Pure announced this week may be getting the headlines, but the Bavarian brand has concurrently launched a pair of limited edition variants called the M5 Nighthawk and M5 White Shadow.
A study in cosmetic contrast, each M5 edition gets a handful of extra features and are finished in either Frozen Black/Azurite Black metallic or Frozen White/Brilliant White metallic paintwork to stand out from the pack.
Each is limited to production levels of just 10 units, so youâd expect them to sell out fast. Priced at $235,930 plus on-road costs, each is $6000 more expensive than the regular M5, and about $51,000 more than the cut-price Pure, which retails for $185K.
As with the regular BMW M5, and unlike the M5 Pure, both the M5 Nighthawk and White Shadow editions gets the Competition Package, which ups power from 412kW to 423kW, and keeps torque at 680Nm. This pack also adds a modified exhaust, lowered suspension, different damper characteristics and a revised steering ratio.
As such, each version dashes from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.
Standard features include a seven-speed M dual-clutch gearbox, Active M differential, dynamic M dampers, cruise control with auto braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane assist, a head-up display, reverse-view camera, all-round parking sensors and birdâs eye camera, 20-inch alloy wheels, Merino leather seats and the full suite of ConnectedDrive infotainment.
Thereâs also a high-end Bang and Olufsen surround-sound with 16 speakers, floor mats (gasp!), carbonfibre cabin inserts (a first for the M5), four-zone air conditioning, an Alcantara-lined roof, soft-close doors, a TV and electric sunblinds.
