The front of the new Suzuki Baleno hatchback has been unveiled ahead of its full debut at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show.
This is the second teaser for the new Baleno comes around three weeks after Suzuki revealed the hatchbackâs side profile. Weâve also seen glimpses of the new carâs nose and tail-lights via a teaser video.
As far as concrete details go, Suzuki is still keeping a lot of its powder dry. It has revealed that the Baleno will be available with a 1.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged engine branded as Boosterjet.
The new Baleno will also be available with an SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system that provides engine assistance via an integrated starter generator. Itâs not clear whether Boosterjet and SHVS will be offered together or as separate options.
Suzuki claims that Baleno is built upon a ârigid, lightweight new generation platformâ, which probably means that the new hatch will use a mixture of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel.
Stylistically, the Baleno is practically the iK-2 concept car, first unveiled at the 2015 Geneva show, minus a few motor show embellishments.
The iK-2 is 4.02 metres long and 1.45m tall, and rides on a 2.52m wheelbase. The concept car had a stated width of 1.92m, although we believe that this number is inclusive of the conceptâs wing mirrors.
The new Baleno goes will enter UK showrooms from September 2016. The car has yet to be confirmed for Australia by its local distributors.
