The first official image of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet has uncovered the new flagship convertible’s lavish interior.
The image â€" which follows a revealing sketch outed last week â€" highlights an optional red leather cabin in a new silver S-Class Cabriolet, which is pictured standing alongside the most recent open-top S-Class that was sold between 1961 and 1971.
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will be revealed in full at next month’s Frankfurt motor show, where it will become the sixth body style in the new S-Class family.
Mercedes-Benz Australia public relations manager Jerry Stamoulis today confirmed the S-Class Cabriolet was on track to reach our shores around the end of 2015.
With the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and the forthcoming Rolls-Royce Dawn in its sights, Mercedes-Benz says its goal in the development of the S-Class Cabriolet was to make “the most comfortable cabriolet in the worldâ€.
Today the company has talked up the car’s climate comfort systems, spruiking its enhanced Aircap automatic wind protection system, Airscarf neck-level heating system, heated armrests, rear seat heating, and fully automatic climate control.
The German manufacturer is initially expected to release S500 and Mercedes-AMG S63 variants, powered by twin-turbocharged 4.6-litre and 5.5-litre V8s respectively.
A twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 Mercedes-AMG S65 flagship is also expected further down the track.
All three variants are expected to make their way to Australia, all commanding a premium over their S-Class Coupe siblings that currently cost $319,000 in S500 spec, $409,000 for the S63 and $499,000 for the S65.
