Lexus has released a third teaser video of its surprising hoverboard prototype ahead of its official unveiling on August 5.
The latest clip shows further footage of Lexus hoverboard test rider Ross McGouran and sheds light on the specially made hoverpark where it has been testing.
If youâve missed our previous reports (here and here) on the hoverboard (or failed your physics finals and forgot how it works), the prototype uses magnetic levitation to achieve frictionless movement over metallic surfaces, featuring liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets.
The Lexus hoverboard incorporates the spindle grille familiar from the Japanese luxury brandâs latest models, and features materials also found in its production vehicles such as bamboo.
Last month, Lexus international executive vice president Mark Templin said the new hoverboard exemplified Lexusâ commitment to innovation in design and engineering.
âAt Lexus, we constantly challenge ourselves and our partners to push the boundaries of what is possible,â Templin said. âThat determination, combined with our passion and expertise for design and innovation, is what led us to take on the hoverboard project.
âItâs the perfect example of the amazing things that can be achieved when you combine technology, design and imagination.â
Stay tuned for more information on the Lexus hoverboard next week.
