Citroen C5 Finale announced, $59,990 drive-away

Citroen Australia importer Sime Darby has announced another limited-edition version of the Citroen C5 sedan, called the C5 Finale.

Just 30 units will be made available, though consider that this year Citroen is averaging about 10 C5 sales a month.

The range-topping model marks the brief, and singular, return of the familiar (to Citroen fans) 150kW/450Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine â€" the last time it will be available in Australia, says Citroen.

It’s the same engine as offered in the limited-edition C5 sold here last year, which we tested in July. That car retailed for $57,990 drive-away, whereas this one is $2000 more expensive at $59,990.

The dual-stage drivetrain chops almost two seconds off the C5 sedan’s 0-100km/h sprint time to 8.2 seconds, and uses a claimed 5.9 litres of fuel per 100km â€" 0.3L/100km less than the 120kW/340Nm 2.0L turbo-diesel unit found in the standard C5.

Along with the uprated powertrain the limited run C5 Finale features 19-inch Adriatic alloy wheels, dual-chrome exhaust tips, reverse camera, a 350 Watt eight-speaker premium audio system and metallic paint.

The C5 also features Citroen’s unique hydropneumatic suspension system that offers multiple ride heights for a variety of road conditions. As we reported recently, this system may be on the way out.

Other standard features include satellite-navigation, sunroof, heated front seats, massaging driver’s seat, rear seat side and rear window shades.

“While C5 will still feature the proven 2.0-litre diesel engines in the future these 30 Finale vehicles are set to become something of a collector’s item for Citroen and automotive enthusiasts,” said Citroen Australia’s national sales manager Shaun Mackle.

The C5 range also includes the C5 Exclusive sedan, currently available for $47,990 drive-away including free reverse camera (saving $3400).
