Our spy photographers have caught the Bentley Bentayga SUV in a parking lot wearing only small amounts of disguise.
Unlike previous spy photos of the SUV, the Bentayga isnât wearing any prosthetic lumps and bumps to help disguise its shape.
That said, this vehicle does seem to be wearing a secondary front bumper that masks out some of the design cues applied to the SUVâs front end.
Thereâs also a thin piece of camouflage applied over the relatively small third side window. Three claw-like markings on the rear door also serve to hide the subtle character line marking out the rear wheel arch.
Oddly, this Bentayga prototype is wearing a set of printed out fake headlights, which almost completely obfuscate the round units that can just be seen lurking underneath and which have been spotted completely undisguised on earlier pre-production vehicles.
A similar type of disguise is used at the rear to hide the Bentaygaâs tail-lights.
The Bentayga is named after one of the largest rock formations on the island of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. At the official announcement of the SUVâs nameplate, Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO of Bentley, claimed that âBentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world â" combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environmentsâ.
The new Bentayga is due to be revealed towards the end of 2015 before heading into showrooms from 2016.
As far as drivetrains go, the Bentayga will initially be offered with a 12-cylinder petrol engine. Later on, Bentleyâs first ever SUV will also be available with an optional plug-in hybrid powertrain.
