The 2015 Skoda Octavia RS 230 is to the regular RS model what the Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance is to its more affordable, slightly less focused sibling.
Thatâs because the Octavia RS 230 gets an retuned engine with 169kW of power (up from 162kW in the standard version), and also becomes the first ever Skoda to adopt an electronically controlled locking front differential that the brand claims to offer âdynamic corneringâ.
Itâs the same setup seen in the Golf GTI Performance, and as such, the difference in performance between the regular car and the new model is set to be bigger than just a minor power bump.
The upgraded 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine also sees improvements to its performance, with its 0-100km/h claim dipping to 6.7 seconds (down from 6.8sec), while its top speed is rated at 250km/h (up from 248km/g). Expect six-speed manual and six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmissions to be offered.
The Octavia RS 230 is expected to see a slightly reworked interior, and while full details arenât clear at this point, a few minor exterior differences could show up, such as the blacked-out rear spoiler. Weâll see more of it at the 2015 Geneva motor show in March.
Itâs not clear yet if the Octavia RS 230 is available in sedan and wagon bodystyles (we certainly hope it will be), nor if it will be sold in Australia (again, fingers crossed). Stay tuned.
