2015 Citroen C4 Picasso pricing and specifications

The Citroen C4 Picasso is looking to tempt Australians out of the ubiquitous mid-sized SUV, with the stylish French MPV launching locally today from $40,990 plus on-road costs.

The five-seat C4 Picasso is the baby brother to the Grand C4 Picasso seven-seater, which went on sale here last year, and is priced $4000 higher.

The pricing actually makes the single-specification C4 Picasso Exclusive $90 more expensive than the entry-level Mercedes-Benz B180 (which is due to be updated soon) and just $3410 less than the base BMW 218i Active Tourer, though the Citroen boasts a punchier engine and a significantly longer list of standard features than either of the Germans.

At 4428 millimetres long, 1826mm wide, 1644mm tall and riding on a 2785mm wheelbase, the Citroen C4 Picasso is 172mm shorter and 10mm taller than the Grand C4 Picasso, as well as 55mm shorter between the wheels.

The C4 Picasso’s boot measures 537 litres and expands to 630L with the three individual sliding rear seats pushed to their forward-most position. With the rear backrests folded forward the load space expands to 1851L. By comparison, the Grand C4 Picasso measures 632L, 793L and 2181L respectively.

Unlike the diesel-powered people-mover, the C4 Picasso features a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 121kW and 240Nm. A six-speed automatic transmission drives the front wheels, helping the MPV from 0-100km/h in a claimed 9.3 seconds, while consuming fuel at a rate of 5.6 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.

Key standard features are listed below, but highlights of the Citroen C4 Picasso include 17-inch alloy wheels, auto headlights and wipers, LED running lights, 360-degree camera, semi-automated parking with front and rear sensors, blind-spot monitoring, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, individually folding second-row seats, a 7.0-inch multi-function touchscreen with satellite navigation and a 12.0-inch dash-mounted panoramic instrument screen.

As with the larger Picasso people-mover, the C4 Picasso is covered by Citroen Australia’s six-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and roadside assistance and six-year/90,000km capped-price servicing program.

CarAdvice is attending the launch of the Citroen C4 Picasso in Sydney today. Stay tuned for our review, coming soon. In the meantime, check out what we thought when we drove the car in Europe last year.
