Mercedes-Benzâs newest AMG performance model has been spotted in Spain, wrapped in a far-from-subtle bright green camouflage ensuring everyone is aware of its upcoming unveiling.
Snapped testing on Barcelonaâs busy public roads wearing German number plates, the fluorescent green Porsche 911-rivalling sports car, speculated to be badged the AMG GT, shows Mercedes-Benz is making every effort to build interest in the car codenamed C190.
Confirmed early last month to be revealed in the second half of 2014, the new AMG sports car will be front engined and both dimensionally smaller and considerably cheaper than the SLS AMG Gullwing.
Power is expected to come from the German car makerâs new twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 â" already confirmed for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG due in early 2015 â" and reports have linked the AMG GT to a 285kW version of the E400âs twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6.
Clearly making no attempt to hide the prototype, Mercedes-Benz is tipped to unveil the new car in all its glory at Round 10 of this yearâs 2014 Formula One season in Germany on July 18.
