A limited edition Renault Megane RS 265 has been announced priced from $37,990 plus on-road costs, or the special launch price of $36,990 driveaway until the end of April.
Called the Renault Megane RS 265 Sport, the 50-unit limited edition utilises the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the previous entry-level $42,640 RS 265 Cup, but picks up automatic stop-start technology.
The RS 265 Sport channels the same 195kW of power and 360Nm of torque to the front wheels, but misses out on a mechanical limited slip differential featured every other specification of the French three-door sports hatch. It does, however, retain the Perfohub steering design that separates the steering hub from the strut with the aim of reducing torque steer, but gets a Sport suspension tune in lieu of the firmer Cup suspension standard on all other RS 265 models.
The RS 265 Sport also gets the same 18-inch alloy wheels as the RS 265 Cup, though painted in a silver instead of black finish. The Brembo brake callipers are also finished in silver rather than red.
While the RS 265 Sport loses equipment standard on the RS 265 Cup â" missing auto on/off headlights, auto keyless entry, and an R.S Monitor 2.0, and getting manual air-conditioning controls instead of dual-zone climate control â" it curiously picks up cloth-trimmed Recaro sports seats from the $47,140 RS 265 Trophy.
The nationwide $36,990 driveaway price for the Renault Megane RS 265 Sport limited edition is backed by other deals, including the existing RS 265 Cup on-sale for $39,990 driveaway.
A $500 fuel card is also given to all Renault private buyers until March 31.
Further deals are available for the month on Clio Authentique ($16,990 driveaway) and Expression ($17,990 driveaway), Megane Expression hatchback ($19,990 driveaway) and Dynamique wagon ($24,990 driveaway), Koleos Expression 4Ã2 ($25,990 driveaway) and Megane CC ($36,990 driveaway).
