Morgan Cars Australia has announced price increases of up to seven per cent across most of its range, blaming the weakening Australian dollar.
In a statement, the local distributor for the high-end British marque said, âAfter a long period of price stability, the declining value of the Australian dollar does now impose the need for some price increases across the Morgan rangeâ.
Starting at the line-upâs entry-point, the 82kW/131Nm 1.6-litre four-cylinder Ford-powered Morgan Classic 4/4 is up $5190 to $79,990.
Also powered by Ford-sourced units, the 106kW/187Nm 2.0-litre Plus 4 is up $5080 to $94,990, with the 209kW/352Nm 3.7-litre V6-equipped Roadster now three per cent dearer at $133,990 â"Â up $4090.
Topping the Morgan Classic range, and employing a 270kW/490Nm BMW 4.8-litre V8, the Plus 8 has been upped by $11,000 to $228,990.
Positioned further up the price list and housing the same BMW engine, the Morgan Aero Coupe is up $10,990 to $274,990.
Maintaining its place as the flagship model sold in Australia, the Morgan Aero SuperSports is also the only model to receive a price cut for the new year, falling $35,010 to $339,990.
Also in charge of Caterhamâs local distribution, the Australian importer has increased the price of the range of Seven sports cars by up to 11.6 per cent as of January 1, along with adding the new Caterham Seven 485 to the line-up â" the fastest and most powerful Caterham ever offered for sale in Australia.
