Audi drivers the most likely to cheat on their partners: survey

Audi drivers are the most likely to cheat on their partners, a survey by the UK’s leading married dating website has found.

The survey, conducted by Illicit Encounters, found Audi was the most commonly purchased car brand by members of the website, which disturbingly claims to help married people find their perfect match.

Almost one quarter of participants in the survey, compiled from the responses of an undisclosed number of the website’s 750,000 members, said they owned an Audi, bumping the leader from last year’s survey, BMW, into second position.

Mercedes-Benz completed a German trifecta by ranking third overall, while Volvo and Volkswagen rounded out the top five automotive brands preferred by adulterers.

Peugeot-5008

Peugeot led the way at the other end of the list, with just 0.38 per cent of respondents admitting to being Pug owners. Rather than establishing Peugeot drivers as the least likely people to cheat in a relationship, however, the data simply says the French cars are the least popular among cheaters.

Compatriot Renault ranked second from the bottom in the survey, with Rover, Skoda and Hyundai also among the five least likely vehicle brands to be owned by unfaithful partners.

Illicit Encounters spokesman Mike Taylor said cars could reveal a lot about their owners.

“All the cars in the top five represent our members,” Taylor said. “They are typically successful, motivated, high-achievers who are less likely to settle for something they find unsatisfying, be it a car or a relationship.

“Car manufacturers know this and Mercedes even famously used infidelity to advertise their cars with the banned ‘Not In This Weather’ advert.”
