Jaguar XFR-S: $222K for Brit’s quickest, most powerful sedan

The Jaguar XFR-S will wear a $222,545 price tag when it lands on our shores in the final months of this year.

The second model in Jaguar’s track-ready ‘R-S’ range following the XKR-S two-door, the XFR-S becomes the fastest and most powerful sports sedan in the iconic British brand’s history.

Inherited from its XKR-S sibling, the 404kW/680Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 launches the Jaguar XFR-S from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds on the way to its electronically limited 300km/h top speed. The eight-speed automatic transmission incorporates the ‘Quickshift’ technology developed for the F-Type, sending drive to the rear wheels.

The Jaguar’s pricing sees it undercut the 412kW/680Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8-powered BMW M5 by about $7K, though the brutal Brit trails its German rival by three-tenths in the sprint to triple figures. The hardcore R-S sedan commands a $32,645 premium over the 375kW/625Nm, 4.9sec 0-100km/h Jaguar XFR.

A deeper front bumper with larger lower air intakes, vertical vanes and a carbonfibre front splitter create a distinctive appearance and improve airflow to the engine, while deeper side sills with aero blades, a carbonfibre rear diffuser and rear spoiler help reduce lift by 68 per cent.

Bespoke 20-inch alloys are wider front and rear and wrapped in specially developed Pirelli tyres.

Extensive suspension revisions increase lateral suspension stiffness by 30 per cent. Jaguar says revised spring rates and retuned adaptive dampers improve the driver’s sense of connectivity with the road, while recalibrated active electronic differential and stability control settings are designed to help drivers when pushing through high-speed corners.

Five exterior colours are available: French Racing Blue, Ultimate Black, Status Grey, Polaris White and Italian Racing Red (pictured).

The cabin is upholstered with Warm Charcoal and carbon-effect leather, which is embossed with ‘R-S’ logos and available with contrast piping and stitching. Dark aluminium is also used across the dashboard.

An 825-watt 18-speaker Meridian Trifield surround sound system completes the enhancements to the XFR-S.

Jaguar Australia expects to sell only a handful of the ultra-exclusive XFR-S super-sedans per year.
