Asian brands dominate 2013 Ward’s 10 Best Interior awards

Asian car makers have dominated the 2013 Ward’s 10 Best Interiors list, with seven models from Japan and South Korea taking home awards.

Famous for its 10 Best Engines awards that are now in their 20th year, WardsAuto applies the same model to select what it believes are the US market’s top 10 vehicle interiors.

The 10 Best list was narrowed down from an original group of 46 vehicles that feature all-new or significantly upgraded interiors for 2013.

Each vehicle’s interior was scored against several criteria including materials, ergonomics, comfort, safety, value, fit and finish and overall design, as well as the user-friendliness of the human-machine interface and the ability to link phones and access vehicle information.

The 2013 10 Best list includes two vehicles each from General Motors and Toyota Motor Corp; six sedans, two SUVs, a hatchback and a full-size pick-up; and four models priced below US$40,000, four between US$40,000 and US$60,000, and two above US$60,000.
