The Infiniti Q50 has been previewed for the first time ahead of the all-new premium mid-sized sedanâs unveiling at the Detroit motor show on January 14.
The teaser video gives us a detailed look at the new Infiniti Q50â²s headlights, which take inspiration from those of the Infiniti LE concept that debuted at last yearâs New York motor show.
The Q50âs headlight assemblies feature tubes of LED daytime running lights reminiscent of eyebrows above adaptive xenon lamps and crystal-look crescent-shaped parking lights.
The Infiniti Q50 becomes the first model to adopt the Japanese luxury brandâs new Q/QX naming structure, with the fresh moniker superseding the old Infiniti G nameplate.
The Q50 will go on sale in Australia towards the end of 2013 when it will join the G37 coupe and convertible, M sedan and FX SUV, which are set to be renamed Q60, Q70 and QX70 respectively.
Earlier spy images have confirmed the Infiniti Q50 will take a generational leap forward from the outgoing G sedan from a design perspective, boasting a more prominent and upright front grille, bold bonnet and panel contours, and a more heavily raked rear window for a sportier, coupe-inspired appearance.
As CarAdvice reported in September, the rear-wheel drive Infiniti Q50 is set to be offered with three Mercedes-Benz-sourced engines â" a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol, a four-cylinder diesel and a 3.0-litre V6 diesel â" as well as an upgraded version of the Infinitiâs 3.7-litre petrol V6.
