The BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition has been released to mark the German brandâs triumphant return to DTM racing after almost 20 years away from the German touring car series.
Limited to 54 cars worldwide, the BMW M3 DTM Champion Edition takes inspiration from BMW Motorsportâs success in the 2012 season, this year claiming victory in the manufacturersâ and team standings, as well as in the driversâ title, with Canadian driver Bruno Spengler finishing in top spot.
Mimicking the look of Spenglerâs BMW M3 racing car â" albeit without the ultra wide guards and huge rear wing â" the limited edition M3 is available exclusively in a Frozen Black metallic finish with carbonfibre aero parts, matt black wheels, a BMW M stripe over the CFRP (carbonfibre reinforced polymer) roof and boot lid, BMW M logos on the bottom of the front wheel arches, and DTM decals on the rear side windows.
Inside, a carbonfibre dash trim strip is signed by the new DTM champion and displays the individual carâs serial number. Door sills that reflect the driverâs helmet design are also featured along with an Alcantara steering wheel, âM Powerâ embroidered handbrake lever and extended black Novillo leather trim with contrasting Palladium Silver highlights.
BMWâs Competition package, M Drive, M DCT Drivelogic and M Driverâs Package underscore the carâs track focus while a Professional navigation system, heated seats and park assist bring everyday usability.
The clincher for motorsport fans? Owners who part with the BMW M3 DTM Champion Editionâs 99,000 euro ($123,000) German price, will have the chance to attend the BMW M Fascination Nordschleife driver training course at Germanyâs legendary Nurburgring circuit, under the watchful eye of Bruno Spengler himself.
