GS F â€" February

The long-rumoured, long-awaited Lexus GS F will finally reach our shores in February, ensuring the Japanese brand’s 2016 starts off with a bang.

The high-performance large luxury sedan inherits its 351kW/530Nm 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 from the RC F coupe, and launches from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

While its numbers position it well below the likes of the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S, so will its anticipated $150,000-$160,000 price.

Price and performance wise, it’s a closer rival for the 331kW/550Nm twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 Audi S6, which starts at almost $170,000.

Plenty distinguishes the GS F from the regular GS variants, with highlights including its massive Brembo brakes, low-profile Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, performance-tuned chassis and suspension, torque vectoring differential, synthetic and mechanical sound enhancers, and generous lashings of carbonfibre inside and out.

It also benefits from Lexus’ full suite of infotainment and safety technologies.

RX200t F Sport â€" Q4

Lexus is hopeful of expanding its large SUV line-up with an F Sport variant of entry-level RX200t before the end of 2016.

The turbocharged RX200t F Sport wasn’t available to Lexus Australia at the car’s launch in November 2015, but the door is now open after the variant was developed for the European market.

Former Lexus Australia CEO Sean Hanley told us an RX200t F Sport would be desirable in our market, and hoped to offer it alongside the RX350 and RX450h F Sport variants.

The timing of its introduction will hinge on availability of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Global demand for this engine â€" also fitted to the IS, ES, NX and RC â€" is currently outstripping demand.
