Hyundai Australia will launch its all-new Elantra sedan in the first quarter of 2016, giving the popular i30 hatch a new-generation sedan companion.

Unveiled at September’s Los Angeles auto show, the new Elantra brings a more evolved look to the coupe-like styling worn by the current model.

The new model is slightly longer and wider than the car it will replace, and there’s also a more refined fit and finish in the cabin.

Local specifications are still to be confirmed, but overseas options include a series of small petrol and diesel engines.

Hyundai Australia has also revealed to CarAdvice that it will launch a sporty flagship model in the Elantra range by the third quarter of 2016, although details on that one are still to come.

Hyundai Genesis/Genesis G80 rebranding â€" late 2016/early 2017

Hyundai’s premium Genesis sedan will be given a global makeover next year, thanks to the Korean carmaker’s decision to launch a standalone luxury brand.

The new brand will be called Genesis, meaning that the current model will be renamed G80 as part of a new range expansion that will include more sedans, a new coupe and a pair of SUVs.

Australia’s Genesis will become the Genesis G80 in either late 2016 or early 2017, likely gaining a styling and technology update at the same time.
