Toyota 86 Blackline on sale in Australia: $37,990 TRD special celebrates 86 Racing Series

Fans of the racer look have been given a treat this week, with the local launch of the Toyota 86 Blackline Edition.

The 86 Blackline arrives as a limited-edition offering, with availability restricted to 250 in manual form and 200 with an automatic shifter.

Based on the top-shelf GTS trim grade, the Blackline is priced from $37,990 for the manual and $40,490 for the auto, marking a premium of $2000 over their regular counterparts.

For the price, buyers will get a number a number of exterior and interior styling tweaks â€" but, as always with the 86, power from its 2.0-litre petrol engine remains unchanged at 147kW and 205Nm.

Styling tricks include a number of components sourced from TRD, including a front spoiler, side skirts, three-piece rear spoiler, rear lower bumper and fender garnishes.

There’s also twin black stripes along the roof and bonnet â€" giving the special its name â€" and a “white liquid” paint finish is the only colour option on offer.

Inside, there’s a liberal application of red highlights to the seats, steering wheel, gear knob, brake lever and door grips.

Available now, the 86 Blackline Edition arrives in celebration of the new 86 Racing Series, which launches in May.
