Suzuki iM-4 spy photos

The production version of the Suzuki iM-4 has been spied by our photographers during testing in Europe.

Alongside the iK-2, the iM-4 made its debut in concept car form at the Geneva motor show earlier this year. The iK-2 has since become the Baleno hatch, which was unveiled in production guise at the recent Frankfurt motor show.

Similarly, the iM-4 is headed for production, although it’s unknown, at this stage, what name it will wear.

In concept guise, the iM-4 featured a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a mild-hybrid system and all-wheel drive. If the new Baleno is any guide, the iM-4 may also be offered with an unassisted version of the 66kW/120Nm 1.2-litre engine.

The company’s new 1.0-litre Boosterjet three-cylinder turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine, which makes 82kW of power and 170Nm of torque, could also find its way under the bonnet.

There’s little reason to believe that the dimensions of the final version of the iM-4 will differ by more than a few millimetres from the concept’s, which measured 3693 millimetres long, 1709mm wide, 1566mm tall, and sat on a 2438mm long wheelbase.

Compared to vehicle displayed in Geneva, the prototype seen here has smaller alloy wheels, door handles that are no longer flush, flagpole-style wing mirrors, and what looks to be temporary headlight innards.

Leaked patent images have shown us what the iM-4’s alloy wheels will look like.
