The next-generation Hyundai Elantra has been revealed via unofficial and unapproved photos, which have emerged from the factory floor.
These photos were reportedly taken by employees or contractors at the factory, and were first published by Auto Tribune.
Although not terribly high in resolution, this trio of images clearly show the look of the new Elantra’s front, rear and insides. The new car maintains the swoopy roof line of the current vehicle, but features a more mature and chiseled look at the front.
As expected the design of the next-gen Elantra is similar, but nowhere as dramatic as the stylised design sketches that were released earlier this month.
At the rear, the new Elantra, which will again be sold as the Avante in Korea, features LED tail-lights that patterned on the units fitted to the new Genesis luxury sedan.
As official sketches showed yesterday, the new Elantra has an interior that’s much more formal and straight cut than today’s car and owes a lot stylistically to the design of the new Sonata sedan.
Hyundai Korea announced yesterday that top-spec models will feature an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, and seven airbags including a driver’s side knee bag.
The company has so far confirmed that the next-generation Elantra’s engine offerings will include 1.6-litre petrol motors with either port- or direct-injection. Depending on the market and engine choice, the new sedan will be available with either six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, amongst other options.
According to the Korean publication, a 1.4-litre turbocharged engine is also likely, but has yet to be officially confirmed. Hyundai says that new Elantra will officially unveiled in “early Septemberâ€.
