2015 Ford Ranger facelift spied again in Thailand

The base variant of the facelifted Ford Ranger has been spied free of camouflage in Thailand.

The images, posted on automotive forum Headlight Mag, reveal the entry-level version of the 2015 Ranger, distinguished by its black grille and bumper, matching door mirrors and handles, steel wheels and steel tray behind its single-cab body.

The spy shots come about four weeks after a 2015 Ford Ranger Wildtrak dual-cab flagship was also spied undisguised testing in Thailand.

As revealed in a video teaser released in November, the 2015 Ford Ranger features a fresh face inspired by the Everest SUV, with reworked headlights that hug the new hexagonal chrome grille that continues into the bumper that is bolder than before with a reshaped lower intake and foglight cut outs.

While no interior images have been released or captured by spy shooters, the updated Ranger is likely to adopt some of the changes previewed by the Everest, with high-end versions expected to gain Ford’s Sync 2 touchscreen infotainment system.

Driveline upgrades developed for the Everest may also flow through to the ute, including a new turbocharger for the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and a recalibrated six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2015 Ford Ranger is set to be officially unveiled in the coming months before going on sale in Australia around the third quarter of the year.
