Proton Australia officially discontinues S16 FLX, Gen.2 and Persona Elegance

Proton Australia has officially discontinued the S16 FLX, Gen.2 and Persona Elegance models from its local line-up, cutting its range in half.

The departure of the city car trio leaves Proton with just its three newest models: the Preve sedan, Suprima S hatch and Exora people-mover.

Sales of the three discontinued models trickled to a halt this year, though the micro-sized S16 FLX will still end 2014 as the brand’s second-highest seller. It tallied 173 to the end of November, trailing only the Preve (305), while Persona sales totalled 67 and the Gen.2 notched 49.
Exora sales are up 157 per cent this year to 113, while the Suprima S is struggling at just 58 sales.

Proton has also ended its five-year/75,000km free servicing offer on its Preve GXR, Suprima S and Exora models, replacing it with a five-year/75,000km capped-price servicing program.

The program includes six services: the first after one month or 1000km at a cost of $170.50, and the remaining five at 12-month/15,000km intervals. The total cost of the servicing program is $1716 for manual models and $1870 for vehicles with CVTs.

Proton’s existing five-year warranty and five-year roadside assist remains in place.
The local division has also announced run-out driveaway pricing for 2013- and 2014-build models, offering savings between $1600 and $4000 across select models.
