The sporty Peugeot 208 GTi 30th anniversary special edition will launch in Australia in the first quarter of 2015.

The 208 has been overhauled by Peugeot Sport, drawing inspiration from the iconic hot-hatch, the 205 GTi both inside and out.
The new 208 GTi was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and according to Peugeot it€'s more '˜radical' than ever featuring it'™s new Euro 6 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 208hp and 300Nm.
Peugeot brand CEO Maxime Picat said, €œFollowing on from the RCZ R, the brand called on the skills at Peugeot Sport to develop a more radical version of the 208 GTi. In this way the 208 GTi 30th celebrates the 30 years of the GTi.
The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and scores a Torsen limited slip differential, stronger Brembo brakes and a lowered chassis.
As well as tweaks to the steering, the suspension has been lowered by 10mm, and the track widened by 22mm at the front and 16mm at the rear.
Cosmetic changes include specific 18-inch alloys GTi 30th badging on the grill, side and rear, matt black trim around the windows and skirting, as well as two-tone paint. The black is finished with a matt varnish, while the red is high gloss.
As well as the two-tone, the 208 GTi 30th will also be available in Pearl White and Ruby Red.
Inside the 30th anniversary edition pays homage to the original 205 GTi with red floor mats, it also features new sports bucket seats with contrast red stitching and the steering wheel is highlighted with perforated leather and red stitching.
According to the 208 GTi 30th Project Manager, Pierre Budar, taking the 208 GTi a step further made complete sense.
€œBased on the 208 GTi, itself already a very effective and well powered car, our ambition was to focus on behaviour on the road, by further increasing its effectiveness. For this we have developed the traction and a potential for more grip, mainly on the front axle. The benefits are essentially in passing speeds, driving sensations and feedback,€ he said.
This hot-hatch is a bundle of fun and capable of 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.5-seconds.
To mark the occasion, each special edition comes with a numbered plate, positioned above the courtesy lamp.
