2014 Skoda Superb: Specifications released

The facelifted Skoda Superb has landed in Australia with a freshened look, as well as some new tech gear, including automated parking for both parallel and perpendicular spots.

Externally everything ahead of the windscreen has been redesigned with new front fenders, bumper, bonnet, grille and headlights. At the rear, the sedan features a more flowing look for the new LED taillights, while the licence plate holder has been relocated from the bumper to the trunk lid.

Changes to the rear of the wagon are more subtle, with the most noticeable changes being the new LED taillights and the revised area around the number plate.

The sedan’s TwinDoor boot lid, which can open like a traditional sedan trunk or a fastback hatch, has been retained. Skoda claims that it’s now easier to operate as the key fob features a button for each method of opening.

Two engines are offered on the revised Superb range: a 118kW/250Nm 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 125kW/350Nm 1.8-litre turbo-diesel motor. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is standard with the petrol engine, while automatic engine start/stop and a six-speed dual-clutch is fitted to the diesel.

Both engines are paired with brake energy recuperation and front-wheel drive as standard.

In the sedan the petrol motor has an official fuel economy rating of 7.2L/100km, while the diesel is said to drink 5.5L/100km. The heavier wagon incurs a 0.1L/100km penalty with either engines.
