2014 Renault Megane RS265 pricing and specifications

The updated 2014 Renault Megane RS265 will cost from $43,990 when the simplified two-model line-up goes on sale in Australia on June 23.

The Megane RS265 Cup’s $43,990 price tag represents a $1350 increase over the old entry model, while the new $47,990 Cup Premium variant has been introduced to replace the old Trophy ($47,140) and Trophy+ ($51,640) range-toppers.

The enhanced Renault Megane RS265 is no more powerful than its predecessor, continuing to pump out 195kW at 5500rpm and 360Nm at 3000rpm from its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, though the introduction of stop/start technology makes it nine per cent more fuel efficient, consuming 7.5 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.

As before, Renault claims a 6.0-second 0-100km/h for the hardcore hot-hatch and a top speed of 255km/h.

As with the rest of the updated Megane range that arrives late next month, the Renault Sport models adopt the French manufacturer’s new design identity. The new black grille wraps around the Renault badge and underlines the integrated headlights, which feature dark lenses and new white underscores designed to amplify the light beam.

The cleaner front bumper sports a larger lower intake and retains the old model’s F1-inspired aero blade and connecting LED daytime running lights.

The entry-level Megane RS265 upgrades to Renault’s 7.0-inch touchscreen R-Link infotainment system, bringing satellite navigation to the base model for the first time. It also includes the RS Monitor system, which displays and allows drivers to record via USB power and torque curves, longitudinal and lateral acceleration forces, and race track lap timing and data.

Other standard features include 18-inch ‘Tibor’ alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and push-button start, dual-zone climate control, cloth Renault Sport front seats and red seatbelts.

An optional $2990 Comfort Pack adds leather upholstery, electric driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a reverse-view camera.

For $4000, the Cup Premium specification adds 19-inch ‘Steev’ alloy wheels with Continental ContiSportContact tyres, leather Recaro bucket seats, and a reverse-view camera.

Australia was the second-largest market for the Megane RS265 in the world last year, with 520 sold across the country.
