Intended to make the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer more aggressive and sporting, the German car maker has released the first images of the M Sport pack that will be made available for its first-ever compact MPV.

The luxury German car maker's first-ever front-wheel-drive production model and first model to be powered by a three-cylinder engine, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer €" which debuted earlier this month at the 2014 Geneva motor show " is due to arrive locally mid fourth quarter.

Estoril Blue paint, front quarter panel M badging, black window surrounds and roof rails, and a high-gloss black double kidney grille complete the M Sport-exclusive exterior alterations.

Inside, the pack adds an M-stamped leather multifunction steering wheel, footrest, gear lever and door sill finishers, an anthracite roof and blue contrast stitching. A tri-colour BMW M key is also presented to owners who select the sport pack.

To be offered locally powered by both petrol and diesel engines, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is tipped to start around $40,000. Once on Australian shores, the Active Tourer will directly tackle its key rival the Mercedes-Benz B-Class.
